Modular architecture is becoming increasingly popular for good reason – instead of lengthy construction time, homes can be completed in just a few days. Gomos is a new modular building system composed of concrete units produced in a factory that can be assembled on-site in three days flat.
Over 20 companies joined forces in building this house in Arouca, Portugal, the first ever to be built using the Gomos System. Architect Samuel Gonçalves helmed the design to showcase the simplicity and efficiency of the entire construction process. Porto-based agency Building Pictures captured this process in a short video.
Every single module (Gomo) leaves the factory completely ready, including all interior and exterior finishing, insulation systems, window frames, water and electricity installations and also fixed furniture pieces. The building assembly on site is done in a few days, just by joining these modules together. This building process is executed in four phases- structural modules production, cladding and hardware, transportation and assemblage.
